Champions of Employee Voice & Wellbeing

A vertical yellow line with a black outline on a white background.

We’re here because we care. True employee listening can unlock an organization’s potential and gives voice to employees on the ground.

Why “Teal Elephant”?

Elephants have terrible vision—they can’t see clearly beyond 10 meters. But they have exceptional hearing and memory.

Employee Voice & Wellbeing | Teal Elephant | Los Angeles, California

Organizations have similar struggles. It’s hard to clearly see what’s going on — to know how different employees are feeling, how managers are affecting their subordinates, and the impact of the organization’s culture.

At Teal Elephant, we know that our vision is flawed. So we turn to our hearing and memory. We conduct surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observations to truly listen to employees, clients, and patients. And we store everything, using our memory to track changes over time. We don’t want to guess what’s wrong based on leadership’s hunches; we want some validation on the ground level.

And teal? We just like the color.

NICE TO MEET YOU

Meet Alyssa

One third of our lives are spent at work – yet for many of us, those hours are marked by stress, disconnection, and dread. I've experienced both the crushing lows and soaring highs of workplace life, which fueled my personal mission and career transition: to transform organizations into environments where people don't just get by to collect their paycheck, but truly thrive. Where they feel connected, supported, and equipped to do their best work.

My PhD journey to pursue Positive Organizational Psychology was a humbling one. I expected it to be difficult academically, but didn’t anticipate a complete recalibration and perspective change - a profound new self-awareness, a prioritization of health, wellness, connection, and balance, and an insatiable thirst for continuous learning. Those changes continue to inspire my work and character today.

Teal Elephant was a culmination of both my experience and my passion. I’ve helped organizations of all sizes conduct and audit their surveys, evaluations, assessments, interviews, trainings, and workshops. I’ve developed reports and share-outs with advanced data analyses and visualizations. I’ve integrated my research — on workplace connections, family-building support, employee engagement, burnout, healthy work-life balance, remote/hybrid work, and leadership development — to support leaders and teams. My TEDx talk, ‘3 Simple Ways to Build Stronger Relationships at Work’, has been played over 425,000 times and featured on TED Radio Hour. Today, that work is anchored in employee listening. My current research and consulting practice focuses on a place where most workplaces are quietly failing their people: family-building.

When it comes to family-building, more benefits aren't enough. Employees feel less supported than ever, even as policies expand, and the gap costs companies. Isolation grows, performance crumbles, and trust and loyalty erode. I went through 5 years of infertility and 7 IVF transfers while working before having my daughter. I lead peer support groups for patients going through it. I actively research it. I know how isolating it is to navigate the most consuming experience of your life inside an organization that doesn't quite know how to support you.

My work centers on one core belief: when we truly listen to employees and understand their experiences, and do what we can to trust and support them, we can create workplaces where everyone thrives.

What’s Important

Our Values

At Teal Elephant, our values are more than just words on a wall - they’re the principles that guide every interaction, decision, and recommendation that we make.

  • We believe in the power of human connections. Every person matters, and every relationship counts. Our work is founded on the understanding that when we truly values and support one another, both people and organizations thrive.

  • Sharing feedback requires courage and vulnerability. We honor this by creating safe spaces for honest conversations and handling insights with the utmost care and confidentiality. Trust isn’t just given - it’s earned, and we earn it every day.

  • We listen with curiosity, not assumptions. Rather than simply confirming what leadership thinks they know, we approach the data with an open mind, ready to uncover new insights and perspectives that might challenge the status quo.

  • While we lead with heart, we deliver with science. Our recommendations are grounded in data, research, and contextual understanding. We don't sugar-coat findings—we present them clearly and actionably, ensuring you have the true insights needed to drive meaningful change.

Our Foundation

These core values are supported by our commitment to:

  • Bring joy and energy to our work

  • Be honest and transparent in all our interactions

  • Learn and grow continuously

  • Pursue excellence in everything we do

Mission Statement

Championing employee voices for clearer feedback, connected work cultures, and thriving organizations.
